James' Plants

James got lots of things for his greenhouse for his birthday from Nana, Grandad, Auntie Karen, Uncle Gary, Ruth and Bevan and was given them a week before his birthday. They have started to sprout.

The beginnings of a pea plant.
Mmm might be eating them for Chrisy lunch!

James going into his greenhouse.
He had turned the hose on for the sprinklers.

James enjoying a shower in his greenhouse.
(There is that random behaviour again lol)

And this is how they grew so fast - here he is talking to the plants.
And yes he really is!

Bull Vallance

Callum feeding his calf Roseta (after the one who won NZ Idol)

Had a busy day at school today with a Super 4 Tournament, James was playing Soccer and they won one game, Callum was playing hockey and was very excited to have a scored a goal. He gets stuck into the game just as he did with Rugby. I was surprised to hear the other kids at school also calling him Bull so I guess that will stick. Sold lots of Moozees (over 200 of them) so if you are looking for a good thing to sell at a school function that would have to be it!

James' Birthday

James celebrated his 12th birthday in the weekend and had his mate stay the night on Friday. After a chosen birthday breakfast of hash browns, eggs, bacon and pancakes, we all then went fishing down at Pikowai Reserve. We didn't catch anything but the kids really enjoyed playing in the stream and sand, Phil had the weekend off and cooked us a sausage sizzle on the beach. James was heard to say later in the afternoon that he had the bestest birthday ever!

James has had a great desire to push a cake into his face and asked very politely whether this could be his day to do this ... so after we all got a piece of cake he slammed his own face into the cake and then proceeded to eat it. Sadly I think he gets this random behaviour from his mother, who gets it from her Auntie Caroline lol. The good thing about this act was that we were down at the beach and he was able to clean himself in the sea and there was no mess!

One of the Challenges

1st challenge and no doodling!!!! not the picture that was asked for but .... couldn't come up with anymore favourite things lol

I started this one down at CC it was supposed to have more on it but I like this better.

Been a while!

Hi everybody - its been a week or so since my last post and I've been trying to work out what I've been doing lol. Certainly haven't been out to my scrap room and I know I have a couple of challenges that need to be finished ... mmm ... I've done one of them but still another to come. Will post when done.

My challenges are:

No.1----computer generate title and journalling,no fave colours like pink or purple, make the page about things you love most about your new environment--no people allowed!!
No 2----use your gorgeous black and white blog photo to create a black/white layout listing 10 of the favourite things about yourself--not Phil, the kids etc but YOU!

I'm still working on the first one. The second one I altered slightly - sorry Lani and Heather as I already had a half finished one of that photo from CC07 so I finished that one. But I did another one and only came up with 7 or 8 favourite things - its really hard to thing about yourself and your favourite things. Does anyone else have that problem? I will post those over the weekend. Thanks Heather for the 10 facts about me from your view - not sure whether I entirely agree thou lol.

We had a lovely weekend with Phils ma and pa- bummer that Phil was working all weekend but they caught snippets of him anyway. We all got shouted out for tea on Saturday night by the 'boss' (thanks 'boss') to a lovely family resturant called Bureta Motor Inn - really reasonable for a family and Callum has already asked to go there for his birthday. It is in Tauranga and I got to drive the 'little round bug' (ma and pas car) I was a bit nervous of driving it but didn't come to any grief apart from going a bit fast in a 70 km zone and getting a bit lost lol. Who else does that mmm forgets that its 70km and still carries on at 100km. Oh and don't tell Pa but I also did a little tiny skiddy as I pulled out onto the main road ... oops ... it wasn't really me it was the stones!

Well its James' birthday tomorrow and he turns 12 - can't believe where that time has gone it only feels like yesterday when he was a tiny baby in my arms - now hes this lovely big boy with a cool sense of humour struggling with the hormones of a 12 year old!!!!

Well till my next post hope everyone is well and happy. Have a good weekend - looks like we are in for rain which might be nice to get out into the scrappy place!

Mosaics

Rebecca and I went to a kids mosaic class during the last school holidays and made these - they were easier than I thought they would be. Have resisted the urge not buy tiles and grout - so far anyway! Rebeccas is a butterfly and mine is a flower.

Well its a bit wet here today but hope everyone has a good day.

Happy Feet

I love this pic of Grandmas slippers. Grandma recently turned 90 and we had a awesome weekend catching up with family - we had a good old fashioned sing song on the Friday night and then a lunch on Saturday. It was great catching up with everyone - a typical Thornton do! Grandma has invited us all back for her 100th. Go Grandma Go Grandma.

Rugby!

Well you know your addicted to scrapbooking when you hang the clothes in anticipation of taking a photo for a page! lol I had the task last weekend to wash the rugby jerseys and yes I did hang them with the thought I could scrap it! What does this mean?? That I'm an addict? Yes, sadly it is true! And yes the number 4 jersey was worn by Callum and the other two were often worn by James!

Both the boys played for Te Puke Sports since we arrived here. Practising twice a week then the game on Saturday morning - always 9am which has been quite good as we are out early and home by lunchtime. The furthest away they have played was in Kati Kati which took us an hour and half to travel from where we are. It was an early start that day as they boys had to be at the field by 8.15. This is Callums second year playing and earned the nickname "bull", his most prized possessions after a rugby match were his bruises! James has enjoyed the team membership of the game and the other boys but wasn't so keen to get in there and knock them all over like Callum. Callum has had 4 Forward Player of the Day over the season.

The Bay of Plenty Steamers are the local team for the Air NZ Cup and the boys are keen converts! Although Callum says he if there is a HB vs BOP game he will support HB (he's loyal!) They won tickets through PGG Wrightsons to have a practise and a game with the Steamers so we went along to one of their practice nights and they came home with signed Rubgy balls and excitement of meeting the players. Callum loves to watch any rugby game on tv and aspires to being an All Black.

A butterfly Challenge!

Well today I was challenged by Heather to do something with a Butterfly so here is my challenge. I tried all day to get out into my scrap room but it wasn't until about 3pm before I got there and did this. The other one was a layout that I started at SENZ 06 with a Cricut machine. Thought I would finish it with a pic. Hope everyone has been having a good day.
